Kakeland’s story is one of resilience and perseverance through enormous amounts of trauma. As a single mother of three, she has faced challenges that few of us can imagine. With the help of the Foundation, Kakeland is working to regain her footing and take steps toward a brighter future. Community support comes in many forms, and Kakeland’s family needed more than just financial assistance.

Outreach Coordinator Courtney is helping Kakeland relocate to a new home in a safer area of town, still in the school district, so as not to disrupt the kid’s learning. She also expressed to us a desire for a strong male role model for her boys, and we knew that we could make that wish a reality. NorthPoint Development Team Members Brad, Jack, Owen, and Johnny raised their hands, ready to meet the young men. Our dedicated volunteers spend one day a week mentoring Kakeland’s boys, playing basketball, and helping them with their homework.

While the relationship is young, we have high hopes that the generosity of their guidance, support, and influence will have a positive impact as the boys move through grade, middle, and high school. We are proud to be a part of Kakeland’s journey toward a better life, and we know that with our continued support, she and her family will continue to thrive. We hope their story will be a testament to the power of community and the incredible impact that we can have when we come together to support those in need.
