At the NorthPoint Foundation, we believe some of the most meaningful change happens when people come together to serve.
Our on going partnership with the Youth Volunteer Corps Kansas City (YVC) creates unique opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills while making a lasting local impact. Through a series of recent service projects, NorthPoint employees had the privilege of working alongside and mentoring these incredible youth volunteers as they learn the life long value of community service.
Honoring Our Heroes: 9/11 Day of Service
Over the past few months, we have had the opportunity to partner on many exciting projects, starting with supporting our veterans through a 9/11 Day of Service. This event brings youth volunteers together to honor those lost on September 11 through active service that benefits local veterans and the broader community.
Working side by side, NorthPoint employees, KCIA students, and YVC volunteers packed more than 600 care kits filled with hygiene and food essentials. These kits have been distributed to veterans across the Kansas City area.
Supporting Athletes: Partnering with the Special Olympics
We also partnered with YVC and the Special Olympics to create a more organized and highly functional storage space for their regional programs and athletic events.
Youth volunteers and NorthPoint team members assembled heavy-duty shelving, organized sports equipment, and designed smart storage layouts. Beyond the physical improvements, which will support athletes, coaches, and staff for years to come, this project gave volunteers a firsthand opportunity to learn about the incredible, positive impact the Special Olympics has on our local community.
Revitalizing Spaces: Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council

Another standout project took place at the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council, where NorthPoint employees worked alongside YVC youth to completely transform the "Kids Corner" space.
Together, our volunteer teams built and installed custom storage solutions, created cozy reading and activity areas, organized educational supplies, and added comfortable seating to create a warm, welcoming environment for neighborhood children. This project provided local youth with hands-on building and carpentry experience while revitalizing a space that will serve local families for years to come.
Looking Forward
These projects reflect the true heart of our partnership with YVC: empowering young people, strengthening community organizations, and creating meaningful opportunities to serve others. Whether supporting our veterans, partnering with the Special Olympics, or revitalizing vital community spaces like Ivanhoe, we are proud to work alongside YVC to build stronger communities and inspire the next generation of civic-minded leaders.
