studioNorth volunteers joined forces with the Rockhurst High School swim team to support a Kansas City homeowner through the annual Christmas in October service project. This long standing community initiative provides critical home repairs for neighbors who are elderly, disabled, or facing financial or health challenges. The NorthPoint Foundation was proud to serve as a sponsor for this meaningful effort.
The team spent the day making repairs and improvements to a home that has been in the same family for three generations. The homeowner is currently battling cancer while also managing a work related back injury, making mobility and daily maintenance extremely difficult. With limited ability to keep up with repairs, the home had begun to reflect the strain of these circumstances.
Through teamwork, compassion, and hands on support, volunteers were able to complete essential updates that improved the safety and comfort of the home. More importantly, the homeowner felt seen, supported, and cared for during a time when physical and emotional energy are being stretched thin.
Service projects like this reinforce the power of community. When we show up for our neighbors, we help preserve the stability and dignity that every individual and family deserves. This work does not just change a home for a day. It strengthens the foundation of care that makes our communities stronger.
We are grateful to Christmas in October for their leadership and commitment to Kansas City families, and to the Rockhurst swim team for partnering with our studioNorth volunteer. Together, we were able to honor a legacy home, support a resilient individual, and make a lasting impact.
We remain dedicated to serving families and communities through meaningful, direct action. We look forward to continuing this work and supporting more opportunities that emphasize compassion, partnership, and the power of people coming together.
